ÇAKÜ Physics Graduate Program Celebrates Its First PhD Graduate

Sally Basim Kadhim AL-KHAFAJI , a PhD candidate in the Physics Graduate Program at Çankırı Karatekin University, has successfully defended her doctoral dissertation before an examination committee composed of distinguished faculty members from Çankırı Karatekin University, Amasya University, and Gaziantep University. With this achievement, she has been awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and has become the first PhD graduate of the Physics Graduate Program , marking a significant milestone in the history of the program. Her dissertation, entitled "Synthesis, Characterization, and Investigation of Novel Hydrazone Compounds Using Quantum Mechanical Methods," represents a multidisciplinary study that successfully integrates the fields of chemistry and physics. Academic Study Visit of Algerian Scientists

Algerian Scientists Prof . Mhamed Kaid , Deputy Director of Higher Normal School of Saida , Dr . Friha Khelfaoui , Faculty Member of Saida Dr . Our Physics Department Student Serap Pak Participated in the Astronomy Training / Job Shadowing Program in Cooperation with TUA

Serap Pak , a 3rd-year student of the Physics Department at Çankırı Karatekin University, participated in the “Astronomy Training / Job Shadowing Program” organized by the Astronomy Education Application and Research Center of Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) in cooperation with the Turkish Space Agency (TUA) , gaining a valuable academic experience in the field of space sciences. During the one-week program, participants attended introductory theoretical lectures on astronomy and space sciences . The training covered fundamental astronomy topics, the structure of celestial bodies, physical processes in space, and current space studies and projects in Türkiye. Throughout the program, students had the opportunity to closely observe academic and applied studies in the field of astronomy. A SEMINAR TITLED "LI3ALB8: SUPERCONDUCTOR CANDIDATE EXCEEDING LIQUID NITROGEN TEMPERATURE" WAS HELD AS PART OF THE PHYSICS DEPARTMENT CAREER ACTIVITIES.

As part of our department`s Career Activities, Associate Professor Dr. Ertuğrul Karaca, who has been working at Sakarya University since 2017, served as a visiting researcher at the University of York in England in 2020 and at the Zagreb Institute of Physics in Croatia in 2024, and is a Reviewing Editor at Springer Nature, one of the world`s leading journal groups, presented a seminar titled "Li3AlB8: A Superconductor Candidate Exceeding Liquid Nitrogen Temperature" in our physics and mathematics departments. He also shared his knowledge and experience with our students regarding career opportunities in Theoretical Physics. We thank him for his visit to our department and his invaluable presentations.

A SEMINAR TITLED "USE OF IONIZED RADIATION SOURCES IN INDUSTRY" WAS HELD AS PART OF THE PHYSICS DEPARTMENT`S CAREER ACTIVITIES.

As part of our department`s Career Activities, Mr. Ahmet Ümit ŞAHİN, Academic Group Manager at the Turkish Energy, Nuclear and Mining Research Council (TENMAK), gave a seminar to our students on "The Use of Ionizing Radiation Sources in Industry." During the seminar, Mr. Şahin shared detailed information and professional experience on various topics, focusing on the technical uses of ionizing radiation sources in industrial applications, and also informed our students about career opportunities in related fields. We thank Mr. Şahin for this visit and the valuable information he provided during his seminar.

Our department`s undergraduate and graduate students visited our University`s Central Research Laboratory Application and Research Center (ÇANKAM) accompanied by our academicians. During the visit, which was carried out with the guidance of ÇANKAM Director Prof. Dr. Olcay GENÇYILMAZ, center experts Lecturer Doctor İbrahim Filazi, Lecturer Doctor Feride Naime Türk and Lecturer Doctor Emel Ekinci made presentations about the devices, and also introduced the opportunities that our students can use in their research activities. We would like to thank the students and the academician who contributed and participated in the visit.
